Jazz musician/composer/writer, Frances initially studied Fine Art then gradually made a switch to jazz piano, beginning her apprenticeship by playing gigs around London going on to study at Goldsmiths and at the Guildhall School of Music.

Frances’s projects have been eclectic and diverse, ranging from jazz and blues through to  improvised music and Argentinian Tango.

Frances has her own record label, Mandeville Records. Her most recent release Magliasina features Stevie Winwood sideman Paul Booth. She has also made several albums with clarinet legend Tony Coe. Tracks from these recordings have been played on the BBC, Jazz FM and Europewide.

Throughout her career, Frances has accompanied numerous singers, such as Sarah Jane Morris and Christine Collister. She is a prolific songwriter who has been awarded a European Musicians Federation songwriting prize.

With the late Hugh Hopper of Soft Machine, she released The Mind in the Trees featuring Elton Dean, and The Swimmer with brilliant vocalist Jan Ponsford.

Frances is part of Work8hop, an octet which focusses on original compositions, who recently played at Margate Jazz Festival.

Current projects include: songs for my soul – a music and spoken word project with Ginger Bennett, and with Circus per Circo Rum Ba Ba.

Frances is also a writer and her short stories and poetry have won and been shortlisted for several prizes.
